Anthony Joseph Schnur

October 18, 1946 — May 19, 2024

With profound sadness, we remember and honor the life of Anthony Schnur (October 18, 1946 - May 19, 2024). A beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Tony was a beacon of kindness, humor, and love.

Married for 50 years, Tony and Isabel's love story began in Spain, where they met while Tony was serving in the Navy. Despite their divorce, they remained best friends, a testament to their enduring bond. Together, they raised two children, Anthony Robert Schnur and M. Christina Costagliola, who considered their father not just a parent, but their best friend.

Tony’s heart was large enough to encompass not only his children but also his five cherished grandchildren, to whom he was affectionately known as "Abuelo"; A man they could count on for anything and trust completely.

In the early '90s, Tony and Isabel moved to Wilmington, North Carolina, to be closer to their daughter, Christina. A man who loved the sea, Tony’s affinity for the water was infectious. Boating was not just a hobby for him, but a way to connect with nature and share those special moments with his family and dear friends.

Known for his calm demeanor, Tony was the epitome of kindness and comfort. Yet, beneath his gentle nature was a sense of integrity and responsibility that inspired respect.

He loved to tinker away in his shop, always taking immense pride in his construction and marine construction work. His love for animals, especially dogs, was well-known. The sight of dogs running towards his truck, lured by the promise of treats, was a familiar and heartwarming scene in the neighborhood and at his shops.

To know Tony was to love him. His life was a testament to the power of kindness, love, and friendship, leaving an indelible impression on everyone he met. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he loved and the lives he touched.

Aquamation services will be provided by Tranquility Cremation by Aquamation. As we bid farewell to Tony, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit remains with us, just as the sea he loved remains an eternal symbol of life's ebb and flow.
